Newark Museums Presents "’The Art of Translation”

“Simon Ottenberg Gift of Modern and Contemporary Nigerian Art”
The Museum will present “The Art of Translation” Original works  by African Artist. This exhibition is like bringing Nigeria to Newark,  included in  this collection are  works by Dr Ottenberg he has donated about 145  mostly drawings of  his modern and contemporary Artwork and about a dozen others works by a distinctive group of Artists  make up, “The Art of Translation”  The exhibitions is now on view  through Nov 2013.

Barbara Chase-Riboud’s  Sculptures Exhibition Date: September 14, 2013 – January 20, 2014

 Above Artwork:  ”Untitled” (1956) by Joan Mitchell   American painter  (1925-1992) 
This Artwork  by Mitchell  priced at $ 6 million was  among the early sales on the booth of the New York based dealers Cheim & Read at the  44th edition of the Art Basel fair  in Switzerland.
 Joan Mitchell is the best female selling artist of all time by auction,   646  of her Artworks fetched $ 239.8 million in sales from 1985 through May 31 , 2013 according to figures compiled by Bloomberg .
